About UConn’s Accelerated Programs

Many of UConn’s Schools and Departments offer 4+1, 3+2, 5th Year or Fast-Track degree programs where undergraduate students begin working towards, or preparing for, entry into a master's degree program. These unique programs offer students an opportunity to earn both a bachelor's degree and a master’s in their fields of interest, many of which, within five years. These types of degree programs are a great fit for students who:

  • Would like to earn a master’s degree to pursue careers related to the fields of interest.
  • Seek to strengthen their graduate school application for a doctoral study program.
  • Become more effective within specific spheres of practice.
  • Have an affinity for the discipline and wish to engage in advanced study.

Further, many of these programs are designed to save students money and time via an accelerated course of study. Only UConn undergraduates are eligible to enter 4+1, 3+2, 5th Year or Fast-Track master’s degree programs.
